Dr. Joe Boone has over thirty years of experience working for and managing the capability development and maturity of our national Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and an increasingly crucial element of our national security strategy. This presentation will summarize the organizational and capability development of the CDC including current roles and missions, methodologies by which these are achieved, and outline areas the CDC considers to be of greatest concern to public health and national security today. This will no doubt be a very illuminating presentation and time will be allotted for individual questions following the presentation.

The Greater Atlanta Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association will support the programs and activities of the national association by
1. Providing a legal and ethical forum for the interchange of ideas between the government and industry offering a means for liaison with and for local government agencies and personnel,
2. encouraging and facilitating the exchange of information between industry and government with particular reference to national security and defense preparedness. Our primary areas of interest are the business and technical aspects of the government-industry relationship, encompassing government policies and practices in the entire acquisition process, including research and development, procurement, logistics support, and many technical areas,
3. promoting communication between industry, Government, academic and research facilities,
4. pursuing an active program in support of association membership, recruitment, and retention, and providing a value-added service to members.
